James Dochtermann

Bio 

James has been creating artwork depicting the flora, fauna, funga, and wild habitats of Maine and New England for 30 years. Having worked in the fields of research science, conservation, and education, he has contributed illustrations to several local publications, brochures, and hiking trail signs.

James has lived in northern Japan with his family for a decade, where he worked in education in different capacities including teaching English, science, and visual art. 

In addition to creating artwork and writing, James likes to forage for wild food and grow edible mushrooms outdoors. He also leads leads wild mushroom forays and mushroom gardening workshops.
